He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Sands (Ted) and Marjorie Sands (Olin); his brothers, Theodore Sands Jr. and Bruce Sands; and his grandson Joseph Sands.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Sands (Halterman); his children, Timothy Sands (Kathy Sands) of Bellevue, Julia Sands (Carlos Melendez) of Melendez, Angela Weir (Brad Weir) of Dallas and Laura Scott (Ed Scott) of Bellevue; and his brother Troy Hanson.
