He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Schaefer and Muerl Schaefer; his brother Robert Schaefer; and his grandchildren, Sarah and Shane Inks.

He is survived by : his wife Jean; his children, Sue Inks-Krocker (Tyler) and Ed Schaefer (Ler); his granddaughters, Savannah Broughton (Barry) and Lily Inks; his brother John Schaefer (Barbara); and his sister-in-law Carol Schaefer.
