He is survived by: his wife Cathy "Cat" Martin; his children, Delia Michalski (Darwin), Jim Martin (Melissa) and Timothy Martin (Emily); his grandchildren, Jake, Wade, Alivia, Maria, Seth, Adeline, Ethan and Eli; his sister Mary Kalcik; Chuck Martin, Frank Martin, Sonja Martin, Lou Recker, Barbara Hotaling, Josephine Tyrrell, Laura Arnt and Richard Martin. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“Jim was more than my brother‑in‑law—he was the person everyone called when something broke or “just didn’t sound right.” He had a mechanical mind that could diagnose a problem before most people could even finish explaining it. If it had moving parts, Jim could fix it. Jim was always willing to help family and friends. I’ll always remember him for 'loaning me as a sixteen year old kid his mustang', his skills, and the way he could fix just about anything—Jim will be missed by all.”
