He was predeceased by : his parents, James Lawrence and Phyllis Elaine Smith (Phelps); his brothers, Keith Smith and Ted Smith; and his grandsons, Cash and Lawrence Chesson.

He is survived by : his wife Janet of Blair; his sons, Brian Smith (Alison), Jayme Smith and Randy Smith (Alisa); his stepdaughters, Jennifer Christensen (Mike) and Sandra Trujillo (Tavis); his brothers, Calvin Smith (Susie) and Roger Smith; and his sister-in-law Peggy Smith. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, one great grandson, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
