He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Howard Kester and Louise Kester (Mayo); his wife Marilyn Jean Beals; his stepmother Valentine Kester (Rankin); and his siblings, Larry and Lana.

He is survived by: his sons, Keith, Ken (Meg), Cliff (Karen) and Cordy; his grandchildren, Jake Kester, Jed Kester (Jordan), Molly Clinkscales and Liz Gallardo (Guillermo); his sons, Kelsey Kester (Elaine), Kit Kester (Liz), Anthony Hopkins, Delaine Kester (Kaylee) and Kamie Townsen (Dean); his great grandchildren, Sam Kester, Avery, Kaden Kester, Madisyn and Kobe Kester; his grandchildren, Paisyn and Jade Townsen; and his brother Howard Jr. (Valaine). He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings.
