He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Bartels and Clara Bartels (Troester); his wife Carol; his granddaughter Amberlyn; and his great grandchild Jacob.
He is survived by: his sons, David Lynn (Nancy) of Franklin, NE and Steve Bartels (Debbie) of Milford, NE; his grandsons, Dan Bartels (Molly), Scott Bartels (Heidi), Michael Bartels (Jill) and Craig Bartels (Brenna); and his great grandchildren, Clayton, Jaxton, Zoey (Dan), Kyler (Scott), Ryan, Logan, Ella, Macy (Michael), Blakely, Bo, Brooks and Barrett (Craig). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Gerald Bartels Memorial Fund for the family to designate at a later date and may be sent in care of Williams & Kuehn Funeral Home, 241 West 4th Ave., Red Cloud, Nebraska 68970.
