He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Schaefer and Hazel Schaefer (Dredge); his in-laws, Frederick Schaefer (LaVern), Lyle Schaefer (Jean), Robert Schaefer (Mardella), Geraldine Schaefer and Joan Schaefer; and his nephews, Lyle Schaefer Jr., Dale Schaefer and Neil Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Rupprecht; his children, Gary Schaefer Jr. (Deb) and Sandy Voss; his grandchildren, Shaelyn Voss (Dillon Gabriel), Dylan Voss (Skylar Hampton) and Leyton Voss (Alexandra Chavez); his great grandchildren, Elleani Voss, Barrett Friedrichsen and Baby Gabriel; his sisters-in-law, Loretta Sirdashney and Phyllis Wellensiek (Ken); his parents-in-law, Florence and Mark Rupprecht; his siblings-in-law, Rex, Carolyn Rupprecht and Robert Sirdashney; Delores Rupprecht.
