It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mable Pekarek of Columbus, Nebraska, born in Howells, Nebraska, who passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George, Sr. Fiala and Mildred Fiala (Palik); her husband John "Jack" Pekarek; her son-in-law Tom Sterba; her siblings, George "Sarge" Fiala, Jr. and Ellen Fowler (Frank); her father-in-law John Pekarek (Emma); and her sister-in-law Geraldine Stewart (Jim).
She is survived by: her children, Marsha Sterba of Omaha, Jeff Pekarek (Ethel) of Columbus, Laurie Lange (Tom) of Columbus and Sandy Olson (Jay) of Olathe, KS; her sister Mary Molacek (Joe) of Norfolk; and her sisters-in-law, Irene Fiala of Dodge and Jan Mahalek (Bert) of Seward Many. She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are encouraged to St. Isidore Church, Scotus Central Catholic, or to the Mable Pekarek Mathematics Development Award at Scotus.
