We announce the death of Robert Swope of Columbus, Nebraska, who passed away on August 19, 2026. Robert will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his wife Jackie; his parents, Leo Swope and Betty Swope; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Gillespi (Gary) and Franciscan; and his sister Pat Birlin.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Blue of Virginia, Mark Swope (Sandy) of Columbus, Louise Jenkins (Dave) of Nevada and Richard Swope (Julie) of Nevada; his grandchildren, Zeph Swope (Elizabeth), Sarah Marksmeier (Matt), Catherine Johnson (Tyler), Paul Swope, Anna Lewandowski (Matt), Crystal Catlett (Cody), Justin Blue, Elliot, Ryan Turner, Ashley Carrier, Sydney Fordyce (Chris) and Jordan Swope; his siblings-in-law, Larry Birlin (Jonella), Ken Birlin (MaryEllen) and Terry Rohde (Chuck); his nephew Andy Rohde (Teresa); his niece Melissa Nevitt (Ryan); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Peyton, Reid Nevitt, Ella, Oliver and Henry Rohde.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the St. Isidore Catholic Church (3921 20th St, Columbus, NE 68601). A Mass was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
