It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ronald Schafer of Columbus, Nebraska, born in Lincoln, Nebraska, who passed away on April 14, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Jacob Schafer and Ruth Schafer (Schmidt); and his sister-in-law Linda Schafer. He is survived by : his wife Rosemae Schafer; his children, Camille Fatone (Jason) and Derek Schafer (Rachel); his grandchildren, Anthony, Noah, Camron Bailous, Lincoln, Zachary and Jenna Schafer; his sister Barbara Hellerich Brothers (Doug); and his nieces and nephews, Erich Schafer (Alicia), Ryan Schafer (Nikki), Jeff Hellerich (Amy), David Schafer (Katrina), Susan Morgan (Josh) and Emily Schafer (Matt Hajdun).

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Christ Lutheran Church (32392 122nd Ave, Columbus, NE 68601).

Memorials are suggested to Columbus Community Hospital, Christ Lutheran Church, UNMC Cancer Research, or City Mission in Lincoln.
