He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Schmidt and Joan Schmidt (Dike); his brothers, Harold Schmidt and Alan Schmidt; his siblings-in-law, Raymond McGinty, Tim Brown and Ruth McGinty; and his grandparents, Ben, Anna Schmidt, Roy and Florence Dike.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene McGinty; his daughter Victoria Moritz (Robert) of Beatrice; his grandson Riley Moritz; his siblings, Harlan Schmidt (Tami) of DeWitt, Kevin Schmidt (Patty) of Illinois, Brian Schmidt (Amanda) of Grant and Diana Sandoval (Maro) of Austin, Texas; his siblings-in-law, Darol Ward McGinty of Pearl, Mississippi, Patty Reese (Fritz) of Jansen, Michelle Oden (Dan) of Odell and Hope Brown of Blue Springs; and his aunts, Betty Deats of Omaha, Lela May Dike of Beatrice and Donna Dike of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
