He was predeceased by : his parents, Adolph Giehler and Margaret Giehler (Thoendel); his siblings, Raymond Giehler and Caroline Giehler; and his great grandchild Kasey Paulsen.

He is survived by : his wife Louise A. Larson; his children, Sheryle Griffith, Bill Giehler, Mary Mathis and Wesley Giehler; and his siblings, Donald Giehler and Joann Sandquist. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
