He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Stuart and Wolena Marie Ferneau (Roseland); his brothers, Conrad and Richard Ferneau; his siblings-in-law, Orla Davis and Barbara Ferneau; and his father-in-law Harold "Duce" Hartzer.

He is survived by: his wife Melody Hartzer Ferneau of Culbertson, Nebraska; his children, Jeff Ferneau of Windsor, Marc Ferneau (Laura March) of St. Helena, Elliott Ferneau (Heather Shields) of McCook and Constance Stone (Jason) of McCook; his sister Colleen Davis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his sister-in-law Vivien Ferneau of Martinsburg; his brother Dennis Ferneau (Kathy) of Tama, Iowa; his brothers-in-law, Yancey Hartzer (Janell) of Culbertson and Tony Hartzer (Barb) of Central Point, Oregon; and his mother-in-law Beth Ann Hartzer of McCook. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many many special nieces and nephews.
