She was predeceased by : her parents, John Cuba and Helen Swerczek Cuba; her husband Harold J. Birkel; her sons, Daniel and Matthew; her granddaughter Katrina; and her siblings, Leonard, Richard and Phyllis Roth.

She is survived by : her daughter Sheila Walsh; her daughters-in-law, Mary Birkel and Julie Paulson; her sisters, Genevieve Cuba and Helen Dinges (Lee); and her niece Shana Dinges. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren.
