It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Wollenburg of DeWitt, Nebraska, born in Beatrice, Nebraska, who passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Wollenburg and Lydia Wollenburg (Hahn); his siblings, Eldon Wollenburg, Marion Niemeyer, Mildred Wollenburg, Esther Zentner (Harlan) and Elaine Bevington (Jim); his siblings-in-law, Lorenz Niemeyer, Arlene Blobaum (Victor), Helen Bouc (Ray), Vlasta Kasser (Jim) and Frank Novotny; and his parents-in-law, Thomas and Frantiska Novotny.
He is survived by: his wife Alice Wollenburg; his daughters, Peggy Birky (Joe) and Connie Heinrich (Scott); his grandchildren, Trevor Birky, Lydia Kuhn (Nathan), Sadie Birky, Jaclyn Heinrich and Brett Heinrich; and his sister-in-law MaryAnn Niemeyer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to the Trinity Lutheran Church, DeWitt American Legion Post #212, and the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department with the funeral home in charge.
