He is survived by: his son Steven Gronenthal (Kim Brown) of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Kierra Rae, Logan, Kelsey, Anthony and Bailey; his stepdaughter Julie Saalfeld of Grand Island; and his grandsons, Cooper Lee and Layton Lee.

“Dear Family, Gale and I were child-hood and lifelong friends. We began our friendship in Platte Center before we were old enough to go to school. We had another close friend, Davy Bruckner. We attended St. Joseph Catholic School and made our 1st Holy Communion and I believe our Confirmation together. I was about 9 when my parents moved back to Omaha, I'm truly sorry that I wasn't able to get to see Gale before his passing. May he Rest in the Peace of our Dear Lord, with all his loved ones.”
