We announce the death of Dick Gist of Falls City, Nebraska, who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 78. Dick will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Dick will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Dick will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Dick’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gist and Lucy Gist (Martin). He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane of Falls City; his son Thomas of Falls City; his brother Joe (Hope Schawang) of Rulo; and his grandsons, Beckett and Graham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Family Choice for later designation.
