He was predeceased by : his parents, Lawrence Gnuse and Elsie Gnuse (Hagerbaumer); his brothers, Verdell Gnuse and Eugene Gnuse (Becky); and his brothers-in-law, Louis Thernes, Kenneth Thernes and Willis Bopp.

He is survived by : his wife Marjorie Thernes; his daughters, Sheryl Stork (Dan) and Lori Essen (Brian); his granddaughter Jennie Scheel (Justin); his children, Allie, Carter and Craig Stork (Tifany); his grandchildren, Walter, Sadie and Charles; his son Eric Essen (Alex); his grandchildren, Easton and Ezra; and his daughter Emily Essen.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (1500 N Luther Rd, Fremont, NE 68025). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont Public Schools Foundation, or Midland University.
