I first noticed her in history class when Mr. Hegmann used her as an example about Anglos taking Native American land — I would jokingly ask her for the land back. I admired how serious she was about her work. The day she died hit me hard. Even our freshman seminar teacher missed her and remembered how Emma wrote in her journal about her bright future and her dream of neurology. Condolences to you and your family.”
