He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard and Darlene'Chudomelka'Spies; his sibling's child Debbra Cass; his sister Wanda Ortmeier; and his nephew Christopher Ortmeier.
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Griffin Cass of Bellevue; his children, Christopher Cass (Stephanie), Gregory Cass (Sue Montgomery), Nicholas Spies (Zoe) and Laura Spies Phillips (Troy); his grandchildren, Ana Cass, John Jurgensmeier, Lydia Spies, Tabitha Spies, Brody Phillips and Kyra Phillips; his great grandchildren, Braelyn Jurgensmeier and Lexa Jurgensmeier; his brother Jeff Spies (Tammy); and his sister-in-law Leah Griffin.
