We announce the death of Janice Novotny of Fremont, Nebraska, who passed away on September 12, 2026. Janice will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Janice will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Janice’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Burkett and Dorotha Burkett (Clarke); and her sisters, Betty Cox and Judy White. She is survived by: her husband James Novotny of Fremont; her daughters, Denise Beckman (Joe) of Alma, MI, Debbie Carter (Brent) of Topeka, KS, Diane Soukup (Greg) of Hooper, NE and Darci Stromquist (Mark) of Fremont; and her brother Paul Burkett of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Ridge Cemetery (1761 W Linden Ave, Fremont, NE 68025).
Memorials are suggested to Fremont Church of the Nazarene.
