She was predeceased by : her parents, Clifford Hawthorne and Crystal Hawthorne (Good); her husband Leslie Umstead; her granddaughter Susann Zona; and her siblings, Merrill Hawthorne, Norma MacDonald, Verta Jean Brummett and Janet Hawthorne.

She is survived by : her children, Steve Umstead (Neva) of Fullerton, David Umstead (Roxanne) of Marquette, Catharine Heedum (Roger) of Omaha and Karen Zona (Timothy) of Gretna.

Memorials are suggested to South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE in memory of Clara Umstead.
