He was predeceased by: his parents, Darrell L. Dean and Elvera "Louise" Dean (Cawley); his son Nathan; and his grandparents, Keith, Wilma Dean, Lewis and Lila Cawley.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy Dean; his sons, Darrell Dean (Angela Englehaupt) of Scottsbluff, Jason Dean (Amanda) of Lincoln and Tyler Dean of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Delaney, Gillian, Brylee and Ella; his sisters, Vickie Fritzler (Steve) of Alliance and Brenda Schultz (Gary Huber) of Gering; his siblings-in-law, Merle and Connie Hagen of Scottsbluff; his nieces and nephews, Michelle, Brooke and Cody; his sister Shirley Botzki of Gering; and his pets, Abby, Daisy, Peaches and Gracie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends.
