We announce the death of Wilbur Fertig of Gering, Nebraska, who passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 89. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Fertig and Mollie Fertig (Rahmig); his son-in-law Clint Cooper; his brother-in-law Stanley Gabel; and his close friend Shirley Martin.
He is survived by: his children, Myron Fertig (Renee), Mindi Cooper and Lynn Harimon (Rick); his grandchildren, Andreana Marlow (Andrew), Annette Hancock (Elijah), Christopher Corr (Christina), Joshua Corr (Shelby), Chase Harimon (Katy) and Chance Harimon; his great grandchildren, Parker, Gracie Marlow, Quintin, Mollie Hancock, Harper, Sawyer, Piper, Oliver Corr and Brynnlee Corr; his sister Kay Gabel; and his nephew Kevin Gabel.
It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Wilbur's honor be made in care of Western Nebraska Community College's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Program Scholarship, or to The Gideons International.
