He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Spitz and Winifred Spitz (Chevalier); and his brother Kenneth "Butch" Spitz. He is survived by: his wife Linda Spitz (Brader); his children, Tambi Kilhefner (Kevin) of Front Royal and Dale Spitz (Marti) of Hastings, Nebraska.; and his grandchildren, Maximus Kilhefner, Cassius Kilhefner, Jaekob Spitz and Parker Spitz.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Butler Volland Chapel at Butler Volland Funeral Home (1225 N Elm Ave, Hastings, NE 68901). A rosary will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 6:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church (301 W 7th St, Hastings, NE 68901).
Memorials may be given to the family for expenses and for Catholic Masses in Fred's name, to be arranged at a later date.
