He is survived by: his girlfriend Dena Hare of Gordon, NE; his sons, Jeffrey (Kim) of Omaha, NE and Matthew Hunting (Brooke) of Omaha, NE; his siblings, Coni Coffey (late Joe) of Dysart, IA and Rand Hunting (Jan) of Overland Park, KS; his daughter Stormy Hare Hunter (Ben) of Gordon; and his granddaughter Ileigh. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Gene Hunting of Gordon, NE died on February 18, 2026 at Gordon Countryside Care while recovering from surgery after a fall and complications from Parkinson's.
