Al Sheffield Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Al Sheffield of Grand Island, Nebraska, born in Holdrege, Nebraska, who passed away on May 17, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his sister Trish Sheffield; his parents-in-law, Dennis and Bettie Akerson; and his granddaughter Cali Hesser. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Akerson; his children, Chad Sheffield (Kayla) of Grand Island and Courtney Hesser (Brandon) of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Caden, Chase, Alli Sheffield, Braxton, Brenna and Cassidy Hesser; his brothers, Monte Sheffield (Ruth) of Kearney and John Sheffield (Kari) of McCook; his stepmother Edna Sheffield of Minden; and his stepsiblings, Patty Galbraith (Harry), Brad Lundeen (Patty) and Ave Lundeen (Denise). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to either Peace Lutheran Church or the Northwest Education Foundation (earmarked for the boys' basketball team).
