He is survived by: his former wife Janice Wellensiek; his wife Donna Deaton of Grand Island; his son Marc Tompkins (Christine Aita); his grandchildren, Alexandre, Genevieve and Henry of Minneapolis, MN; his daughter Jill Lisius (Phil); his grandsons, Derek, Brenden and Caleb of Arlington Heights, IL; his stepchildren, Terasina Hurley (Travis) of Grand Island, Brian Tobler of Grand Island and Todd Tobler; his siblings, Roger Tompkins (Barbara), Neil Tompkins (Ruth) and Linelle Kelley (Ned); and his daughters, Janka and Sylvia of Slovakia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Stuhr Museum, Grand Island Education Foundation, or the Grand Island Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska.
