He was predeceased by: his parents, Lauris F. Hendrix and June Hendrix (Lukehart) of Louisville, NE.; and his nephew James K. McKay. He is survived by: his wife Judy Hendrix (Trutna); his daughters, Jennifer Schied (Mike) and Jessica Berkenwald (Ezra); his grandchildren, Nathan Schied (Alyce Jordan), Lily Schied, Noah Berkenwald (Amara Lindsey) and David Berkenwald; his great grandchild Jordyn Schied; his sister Carolyn McKay; and his great-niece Sheila Farris (JD).
In lieu of flowers, Jim requested that memorials be sent to the family to establish scholarships in his name at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the University of Nevada–Reno for engineering students, or that a tree be planted in his memory — a tribute he would have treasured more than bouquets.
