He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hoffart and Marcella Hoffart (Bruening); his wife Jean Lynn Riibe; his daughter Kristen Johnson; his brothers, Larry Hoffart and Galen; his sister-in-law Leslie Hoffart; his in-laws, Alphonse and Julia Riibe; and his siblings-in-law, Julie and Robert Kastrup.
He is survived by: his children, Kent (Therese Hoffart) of Hartington, Jill Hoffart (Jayne) of Hartington and Steve Steffen of Hartington; his son-in-law Kim Johnson (Verdigre); his grandchildren, Bennett, Brooke Steffen (Norfolk), Sydney, Robert Schmaderer (West Point), Maxwell Steffen (Lincoln) and Jacob Steffen (Norfolk); his great grandchildren, Nora Steffen and Nash Steffen (Norfolk); his siblings, Ruth Ann (Henry Kusel) and Randy Hoffart (Rebecca Sutherland); his siblings-in-law, Joann Hoffart (Coleridge) and Jerry (Jody Riibe); and his niece Tera Kastrup (Hartington). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
