It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James B. Harrenstein of Hastings, Nebraska, who passed away on September 16, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James B. Harrenstein to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, R. John Harrenstein and Joyce Harrenstein; and his sister-in-law Sue Harrenstein. He is survived by: his wife Carol Johansen of Hastings, NE; his daughters, Kristan Manske (Jesse) of Hickman, NE and Tracy Brooks (Kenny) of Hastings, NE; his grandson Adam James Brooks of Hastings, NE; and his brother Jerry Harrenstein of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (621 N Lincoln Ave, Hastings, NE 68901). A burial was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hanover Presbyterian Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Brooks's Bookshelf and Special Children's Fund.
