It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jeanette Grothen of Hastings, Nebraska, who passed away on November 27, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Jeanette Grothen to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Judson Brown and Marie Louise Childers; her son David Allen; her husband Paul Robert Grothen; and her sister Claudie.
She is survived by: her children, Donald Paul (Martha Mendez) of San Leandro, Dale Robert (Billie Guyette) of Hastings and Karen Grothen-Neff (Patrick) of Lincoln; her daughter-in-law Wanda Grothen of Lincoln, Nebraska.; and her grandchildren, Kelly Sparr (Chad), Sarah Griess (Zac), Tharon Buhr (Erin), Eric Neff (Becky), Kara Grothen, Tracy Grothen-Maly (Brett) and Katie Grothen. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center (1225 N Elm Ave, Hastings, NE 68901). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church (501 N Burlington Ave, Hastings, NE 68901).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Paul and Neva Grace Foundation.
