He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Christner and Dolores Christner (Matson); his parents-in-law, Glen and Virginia Spray; and his siblings-in-law, Rick Spray and Rose Christner.

He is survived by: his wife Vickie Christner; his children, Brian Christner (Jess) of Hershey, Matthew Christner of Culbertson, Nebraska and Megan Criswell (Logan) of Chappell, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Berkley, Bennett Criswell and Bex Christner; his siblings, Jamie Christner (Angela) of Palisade, Kelly Christner (Kathy) of Sutherland, Nebraska and Terri Banzhaf of McCook, Nebraska; and his sister-in-law Judy Hay of Trenton, Nebraska. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to Hayes County Volunteer Fire and Rescue or to the family for later designation.
