He was predeceased by: his siblings, Duane Ekberg (Nadyne) and Jeanie Johnson (Edwin); and his sister-in-law Gloria Ekberg. He is survived by: his son Jim Ekberg (Trudy) of Funk, Nebraska; his grandsons, Bret (Andrea) and Tanner Ekberg; his great grandchildren, Karter and Halli Ekberg; his daughter Susan Cramer (Dave) of Holdrege; his grandchildren, Brian Cramer and Hilary Schriner (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Brandon, Natalie and Gabbie Schriner; his daughter Jane Gaffney (Kevin) of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Anthony (Meghan), Aaron (Ashlen) and Brittany Presnell; his great grandchildren, Kannen, Kyhlen and Azrielle Presnell; his brother Don Ekberg of Holdrege; and his close friend Shirley Tucker of Holdrege. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

A memorial has been established in Bob's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
