He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Preister and Clara Preister (Magsman). He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Preister of Humphrey; his children, Cathy Gronenthal (Paul) of Humphrey, Glen Preister (Julie) of Humphrey, Steve Preister (Denise) of Lindsay, Gary Preister (PJ) of Valley, Rosemary Wiese (John) of Lindsay, Christine Jarecki (Dean) of Hartshorn, MO and Scott Preister (Kay) of Petersburg; his stepchildren, Diana Ainsworth (Jim), Jack Beller, Carl Jarosz (Kim), Mark Jarosz and Jackie Jarosz; his siblings, Gerard Preister (Ramona) of Columbus and Mildred Ludden of Columbus; and his brother-in-law Cliff Finkral of Humphrey. He is also survived by 33 Grandchildren, 63 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, 11 Step Grandchildren, and 15 Step Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of plants, flowers, and statues the family encourages memorials to be designated at a later date.
