He is survived by: his sons, Steve McKay (Tara) of Ericson, NE, Greg McKay (Amy) of Spalding, NE and Matt McKay (Michelle) of O'Neill, NE; his grandchildren, Bailey Petersen (Alex), Jace McKay (Sydney), Tee McKay (Shannon Kennicutt), Drue McKay, Bronc McKay (Lindsey), Briana Murray (Reed), Cooper McKay, Colby McKay and Cash McKay; and his siblings, Pat Gokie (Jim) of O'Neill, NE, Bill McKay (Bobbi) of North Platte, NE and Peg Davis of Norfolk, NE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and rodeo friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Biglin's Mortuary (111 N 3rd St, O'Neill, NE 68763). A prayer was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Carrol McKay Rodeo Arena. A graveside service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 11:30 AM at the O'Neill Cemetery.
