Patsy Ruth Pinn Obituary

Patsy Ruth Pinn, age 79, of Kearney, NE passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at her home. Memorial services will be on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northside Community Church in Kearney. Pastors Steve Miller and Jim Gleason will officiate and burial will be later. There will be no visitation. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Orphan Grain Train in Grand Island, NE. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

After a short, courageous battle with cancer, Patsy passed away surrounded by her daughters, her granddaughter, and her husband of over 60 years.

Patsy was born December 10, 1943 to Sergeant Oscar W. Bateman and Carmen (Bateman) Edwards in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her father was killed in action over Austria during WWII when she was an infant. Her mother later remarried, and the family relocated to Casper, WY.

Patsy graduated in 1962 from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Pinn, on February 22, 1963. Together they raised their four children east of Casper, Wyoming on a small acreage where Patsy was a stay-at-home mom.

After her children were raised, Patsy went back to school and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1995 with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. She worked at the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission as a counselor, then worked in a behavior academic classroom at Centennial Junior High School in Casper before retiring with her husband in 2005.

Patsy was active with her children in rodeo, 4-H and FFA. She served as a 4-H leader for over 25 years teaching sewing, crocheting, knitting, and various crafts. She hauled her children's horses and livestock, often the neighbor kids' critters as well, to wherever they needed.

In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, Patsy and Ron traveled to New Orleans with the Church of God and their 5th wheel trailer to help with the rebuilding of the communities impacted. During their time in Louisiana, they also served with Lutheran Camp Restore. They spent the next six winters helping the community to restore homes and churches devastated by the storm. Ron and Patsy also served the Lord on missionary trips including one to Africa.

In 2009 the couple moved to Kearney, Nebraska to care for Ronald's elderly aunt and uncle. There they continued their ministry in disaster relief by delivering lifesaving supplies to impacted areas across the United States for Orphan Grain Train Disaster Relief. Patsy loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and served him fervently. She led her daughters, her son, and husband to Christ.

She is proceeded in death by her son, John Christian "Chris" Pinn; her mother and father; aunt Ilene and Uncle George; and brother, "Sonny".

Patsy is survived by her husband, Ronald Pinn, of Kearney; daughters, Ronica (Jeff) Trujillo of Fruita, CO, Angela (Phil) Crouch of Mesquite, NV, and Carrie (Derek) Mickelson of Norfolk, NE; sister, Marcie Bateman of Duvall, WA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her niece, Gina Bateman; her two best friends, Anna and Cindy; several other nieces and nephews.
