He was predeceased by: his parents, James Carlson and Ruby Carlson (Jensen); and his brother Dennis Carlson. He is survived by: his wife Julie Carlson of Kearney; his children, Ryan Carlson (Paula) of Grand Island, Miranda Lukas of Hastings, Cory Carlson (Megan) of Blair and Laycee Carlson (Grant Arbaugh) of Gretna; his grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, Taylor, Chase, Lavontay, Thane, Camdyn, Cora and Zella; his sisters, Bev Davis (Ron) of Hastings, Judy Mays (Ron) of Lincoln and Melody Carlson of Glendale, AZ; and his pet Sammy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
