He was predeceased by: his parents, Don "Red" Wurtele and Jean Wurtele (Kreifels); his siblings, Tom Schlichtemeier, Terri Schlichtemeier, Christine Blake and Bradley Wurtele; and his siblings-in-law, Jeff Yost and Kristina Schildberg.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Wurtele; his sons, Jamie Wurtele and Jason Wurtele (Lacey); his grandchildren, Gracie Wurtele, Roman Coats, Jayde Wurtele, Landon Wurtele and Jayli Wurtele; his great grandchild Nash Coats; and his siblings, Donna Maybee, Carrie Wendt, Kay Evans, Elaine Tasler (Jerry), Renee Hauder (Bill), Randy Wurtele (Connie) and Mike Wurtele.

Memorials may be given to Four Paws For Hope, American Cancer Society, Otoe County 4H or Nebraska City FFA.
