He is survived by: his wife Glatha (Green); his brother Ken Rathjen; his brother-in-law John Green; his nieces and nephews, Robin Kapostasy (Gary), Nathan Rathjen and Kendra Jensen (Brent); his grandchildren, Joshua Ramos (Destinee), Emily Felix (Abe), Jason Guern (Kelly), Noah Guern (Riley), Raymond Guern and Alyssa Rathjen; his stepgrandchildren, Jillian and Anders Jensen; and his great grandchildren, Skyler, Alexander, Christopher, Oliver Ramos and Kestrel Felix. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members.

Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Lincoln Children's Zoo, Lincoln Community Concert Band or Engineers Without Borders.
