He was predeceased by : his parents, John Stastny and Agnes Stastny (Hottovy); and his siblings, Jack, Emmery (Pat), Francis (Bea), Dan (Millie), Bernice Voboril (Don) and Alma Stastny.

He is survived by : his wife Arlene Stastny (Hotovy); his daughters, Annette Hammeke (Curtis) of Hays, KS, Judy Siedhoff (Bob) of Crete, NE, Joyce Vrbka (Lyle) of Lincoln, NE. and Jane Stastny of Lincoln, NE.; his grandchildren, Andy Hammeke, Alicia Knight (Kegan), Nicholas Hammeke (Olivia), Kara Greenwalt (Tyson), Matt Siedhoff, Luke Siedhoff (Katie), Haylee Polak (Tyler), Jessica Roettger (Matt), Quentin Vrbka (Sami) and Aaron Vrbka; his brother Leonard Stastny; and his sister-in-law Connie Hotovy.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 12th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Zabka - Perdue Funeral Home - Dwight (376 Pine St, Dwight, NE 68635). A rosary was held on Sunday, May 12th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the Assumption Catholic Church (300 Pine St, Dwight, NE 68635). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery. A graveside service was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Assumption Catholic Church (300 Pine St, Dwight, NE 68635).
