He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Delores Smith (Franklin). He is survived by: his children, Duane Smith (Debbie) of Los Angeles, California, Marilyn Peach (Gus) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Diane Smith of Lincoln, Nebraska and Daniel Smith (Jody) of Palm Harbor, Florida. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.

Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
