He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, James McLaughlin and Sarah McLaughlin (Raley); his wife Rita; his sons, James Phillips (Lisa Marshall), Lincoln and Jeffrey Phillips of Las Vegas, NV; and his cousins, Virginia Locke (Will) and Helen Schnackenberg (Bill).

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 21st 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery (6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512). A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
