We are sad to announce that, on February 19, 2023, at the age of 85, John D. VerMaas of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Christian Leonard and Alpha Mary VerMaas (Birt); his former wives, Marilyn (Ziemann) and Janice (Zwiebel); and his siblings, Virgil, Letha Clement, Viva Craig and Evelyn Birrell.

He is survived by: his stepdaughter Jeri Reimnitz (Dan); his wife Jeanne; his children, Vicki Newby (Bob), Gail VerMaas, Gary VerMaas (Tammy) and Lisa Bleeker (Troy); his stepchildren, Jeff Zwiebel, Jennifer Fager, Susan Fager and Jill McCook; his grandchildren, Sarah, Rich, Michael, Kyley, Chris, Cory, Brianna, Brooke, Braden and Briar; his stepgrandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Marc and Hannah; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Oliver, James, Thomas and Henry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Sesostris Shrine Transportation Fund.
