He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. O'Brien and Lorna Patricia O'Brien (Pare); and his niece Leah Theall (Melanson). He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Ryan; his children, Benjamin James O'Brien and Molly Frances O'Brien; and his siblings, Jaime O'Brien, Kim Melanson (Jack), Theresa Ellefsen (John) and Shelley Gerrior. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
