He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter V. Carroll and Eunice Carroll; his brother Ephraim Carroll; his daughter Katherine Rene Carroll; and his sister Mary K. Webb-Medley.

He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Carroll; his brother Cecil Carroll; his children, Tracy Carroll (Judy) of Houston and Linda Marie Craig (Bobby) of Gulfport; his stepchildren, Clay Rigdon (Debbi) of Jacksonville and Linda Gay Coffelt (Danny) of Nocatee; and his grandchildren, Sabrina Kalinski, Joseph Carroll, Christina Jernigan, Aly Harper and Rexee Gaugh. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made to Beulah Baptist Church in honor of Joe.
