We are sad to announce that, on December 31, 2022, at the age of 98, Joseph Weitzel (Lincoln, Nebraska), born in Arcadia, Wisconsin passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex H. Weitzel and Mary Weitzel (Martin); his wife Lucy Decker; his children, Billy and Gail; his grandson Devin Weitzel; his foster son Dale Rice; and his siblings, Rachel Wagner, Esther Houston, Helen Alber, Robert, Dave and Albert.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph E. Weitzel, Daniel Weitzel, Mary Gerteisen and Thomas Weitzel (Christine); his grandchildren, Heidi Ostwald (Brad), Mysi Girdlestone (Shane), Dewey Beckstead, Shane Beckstead (Lisa), Bryce Gerteisen (Morgan), Kelly Weitzel (Danae), Logan Weitzel, Charlene Hawk and Derek Weitzel (Katie); his sister Martha Woodiel (Woody); and his sister-in-law Susan Weitzel. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
