He was predeceased by: his parents, Trinidad Gutierrez and Francisca Lopez; his sisters, Ramona Fraker, B. J. Backman and Epifano Castillo; and his great grandchild Apollo Williams.

He is survived by: his former wife Elizabeth Gutierrez; and his children, Diana Hall (Paul), John Gutierrez (Holly), Kelly Michener (Tom) and Nicole Poynter (Nicholas). He is also survived by 3 brothers, 8 sisters, 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces/nephews.
