He was predeceased by: his parents, James McGregor and Ava McGregor (Smith); his brother Robert (Phyllis); and his son Gale. He is survived by: his son David Hamann (Julie); his daughter-in-law Patricia Hamann; his grandsons, Bryan, Andrew (Elke), Jacob (Chelse) and Luke Hamann; and his great grandchildren, Ava and Olivia Hamann.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
