He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rettig and Anna Rettig (Lindhorst); his wife LaVera Jones of Clay Center, KS.; his son Rustyn; and his brother Willard.

He is survived by: his children, Robyn Beaver (John) and Brian Rettig (Laura); his grandchildren, Joshua Beaver (Tessie), Bradley Rettig (Jessica), Lindsay Reger (Jason) and Adam Rettig (Mandy); and his brother Eldon Rettig (Geraldine). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and his 15 great grandchildren.
